Biography
John was born in Norwich Norfolk England in 1860 He is the son of George Goss. and Mary Ann Brown (surname probable) John was Christened 25 Nov 1860. On his Christening record George Goss is named as his Father and Mary [Hurrell] Goss as his Mother. [Born 1823 - 1871] to verify
John was born 1860. He is the son of George Goss. [1]
Once I discovered George and Mary's 5 children were all christened on the same date I then referred to the Census Papers of 1851, and 1861 1871 to estimate the Birth Year. Reference for Census Papers is on Goss-3284 his father's George Goss file.
The 1881 Census showed that like his father George, he was a Bricklayer and living with his Father and Mother in Rising Sun Lane. Norwich St Michael At Thorne, Norfolk, England In the house also was living two brothers, [Step sons of George Goss - Albert Brown Goss who was 18yrs a Bricklayers Apprentice and John William Brown who was 20yrs and a Bricklayers Labourer. The 1891 Census showed George 70yrs was still a Bricklayer his spouse Mary was 68yrs and Albert H Brown Stepson Male 28 was still living at home in Norwich, Norfolk, England [3]
It is possible on 23 Dec 1884 Norwich John married Emma Tortoise (1856-1933) - still to verify this statement
I believe they had a daughter Victoria Maud Goss
