NOTE: Wives in that time & place retained their paternal surnames, at least until widowed.
Jeanne Gosse was apparently the first-born of the 7 known children (including only 2 daughters) of Perceval Gosse & Juliane Coupard. Her baptism, at Champeaux, occurred on Monday 7 May 1629. Her godfather was her uncle (father's brother), the deacon Jean Gosse, while her godmother was her grandmother (mother of Juliane), Madeleine Turgot.
Her marriage is recorded at Champeaux, Monday 25 Feb 1647, although her husband Samson Jouey came from a family in the nearby village of Angey. Barriault reports the witnesses as: "Julien Pesraye Vausellon (?), from Buillon"; the bride's father Perceval Gosse; her uncle Olivier Gosse; and one Gilles Coupard.
Together, clearly living in Angey parish, Jeanne and Samson had 6 known children, 2 girls and 4 boys. Their birth records are unavailable, because the surviving records of Angey parish go back only to 1689.
Although Jeanne Gosse was buried at Angey (before the existing records begin), the event was recorded at Champeaux, dated Sat 17 Feb 1663 -- some 26 years before the passing of husband Samson Jouey.[1]
