See Barriault p. 130.
Jean is perhaps the second-born of the 5 boys, & 4th-born among the 7 known children, of Perceval Gosse and Juliane Coupard.
He was baptized on 23 Oct 1635, at Champeaux. His godfather was the parish priest at St-Pierre-Langers, Maître (? - "Me.") Georges de Lézeaux. (Jean Gosse's paternal grandmother belonged to the elite de Lézeaux line.) His godmother was the "noble dame" Jeanne de Sainte-Marie, Dame d’Équilly, from Carolles parish.
He married at aged 28, on 18 Apr 1664. Although Barriault found the record in the parish register of Champeaux, the wedding occurred at the adjacent village of Carolles, home parish of the bride, Marie L'Hostellier, daughter of Jean L'Hostellier & Barbe de Peronnel of Carolles parish.
The Champeaux parish records show that Jean Gosse died while still aged 40, on 29 Aug 1676. He was buried the next day "in the church of said place [Champeaux?], beneath the bench [banc] of the Sieur de la Hache". Funeral witnesses were Perceval Gosse, Samson Jouey, & Nicaise Gosse.[1]
