Biography

Alvah S Gotshall was born on February 1, 1844 in Vigo County, Indiana. He was the son of Peter Gotshall and Ann Woodling. He married Samantha Lowman on January 14, 1869 in Cass County Indiana. They were farmers and had 9 children during their marriage

Alvah died on July 29, 1895, in Logansport, Indiana, at the age of 51. Samantha lived for 44 more years. They were buried at Mount Hope Cemetery.

Obituary for Alvah Gotshall, Logansport Daily Journal:

Albert C. Gottschall was one of the best known farmers of Noble township and had many friends in this city. He had been the victim of inflammatory rheumatism for nearly a year and an acute attack of this malady brought on typhoid fever from the torture of which death mercifully released him yesterday. He was aged 51 years and leaves a wife and several children. The funeral will be held Wednesday at the residence, and interment will be made in Harper cemetery.
