Excerpt from Xenia Gazette article, "Historic Cemetery in Sugarcreek To Get Care", by Dave Masters, Gazette Staff Writer, Wed., Dec., 15, 1965:

"Another of the oldest legible markers in 1954 is that of John Gowdy who died Nov. 15, 1807 at 77 years of age. His wife, Ann, rests beside him. Their son, Andrew, also resting there, married Mary McConnell, Feb. 7, 1806 in one of [Rev. Robert] Armstrong's early Ohio marriage ceremonies."
