Charles Gough was born in Cheshire, England.

Charles was born in 1910. He was the son of Charles Gough who married in 1908 in West Kirby. He was christened on 17th October 1910 at St Hildeburgh's Hoylake.

He is mentioned in the 1911 Census as son of Charles and Florence. Charles senior is described as a "commercial traveller tobacco". There is a young female servant present in the household.

Charles junior was too young to know of and understand about World War 1 in any great depth. His mother Florence died in 1915 when he was five. His father served in the war and survived.

Charles senior died around 1930 and probate was granted to Ethel Gough.

In 1949 Charles applied to travel into Brazil. The application states his nationality as being from the United States of America and that he is married but not traveling with children.

A similar document in 1959 gives the same information - both of these documents have a photo of Charles.

Who cared for Charles whilst his father was away and after his mother died?

Who was Ethel Gough? Did his father remarry after Florence died? Or is this some other relative?

It isn't Charles' grandmother as she was a Katherine as stated in the census of 1901.

Cannot find details of any marriage having taken place nor of his death.

Charles must have traveled to USA but cannot find a record. There is always the possibility that he went there during the war and settled there afterwards.
