Research Notes
There are two similar Samuel Gould records at the bottom of p. 681 of MSSRW,
[4]
an officer and a Private/Minuteman.
The DAR attached to this profile matches the dates and rank of first (officer), but the SAR with matching dates has rank as Private.
Carpenter shows a Private/Minuteman,
[5]
which would match the non-officer.
Note that the non-officer's MSSRW entry says "reported killed 1780".
Both entries say they served in Capt. Noadiah Leonard 's company under Col. Benjamin Ruggles Woodbridge .
The second/non-officer would also have Category: Hampshire County, Massachusetts Militia, American Revolution and Category: Minutemen, Militia, American Revolution
