Research Notes

There are two similar Samuel Gould records at the bottom of p. 681 of MSSRW, [4] an officer and a Private/Minuteman. The DAR attached to this profile matches the dates and rank of first (officer), but the SAR with matching dates has rank as Private. Carpenter shows a Private/Minuteman, [5] which would match the non-officer. Note that the non-officer's MSSRW entry says "reported killed 1780". Both entries say they served in Capt. Noadiah Leonard's company under Col. Benjamin Ruggles Woodbridge. The second/non-officer would also have Category: Hampshire County, Massachusetts Militia, American Revolution and Category: Minutemen, Militia, American Revolution
