In the 1861 England Census John Gould 42 born about 1819 in Fordingbridge, Hampshire, England, corn dealer, was head of his household in Shide Cross Farm, Carisbrooke, Hampshire, England. Other Household Members were his wife Ann L Gould 45 Wickham, and their children Lucretia M Gould 13 Carisbrooke IW, Henrietta C Gould 12 Carisbrooke IW, Emily S Gould 11 Shorwell IW, John W Gould 9 Shorwell IW, James R Gould 7 Shorwell IW, Henry T Gould 5 Shorwell IW, and Sydney W Gould 3 Shorwell IW. Also their visitor Henrietta Wooldridge 82 St Georges Hanover Square, London, widow, blind. Kate Harrison 19 Fordingbridge was their servant. [1]

Gould 25, Billingham, chemist, and their daughter in law Alice A. Gould 24 Shepton Mallet, Somerset. Their servant was Emily Knight 37 Newport, Isle of Wight. [2]

HENRY THOMAS GOULD. The estate of the late Mr. Henry Thomas Gould, chemist, of Hobart, who died on November 6, has been proved for probate purposes at £19,996. By his will the deceased appointed the National Executors and Trustee Company of Tasmania Ltd. to be his trustees, and instructed them to pay the interest and income from the investments of the estate to his wife, Alice Amelia Gould, during her lifetime. After her death the trustees were to pay to his daughter, Alice Mary Gould, an annual income from investments of £250, and to divide the trust funds (including the daughter's portion after her death) between his two sons, John Henry Gould, chemist, of Hobart, and Arthur Wycherley Gould, a farmer, of Bridgewater, in such a manner that John Henry Gould should receive £800 more than Arthur Wycherley Gould, and if either of his sons were to die during his lifetime the estate was to go to his children.
