An inquest was held on 4 February 1927 at Alexandra, which Margaret was accidentally shot[5][6].

The remains of Peter Cowle was also buried the same afternoon. The Rev G Martin conducted the burial services. Regret is expressed on all sides at the bereavement each family has experienced under such tragic circumstances. --- Magisterial inquiries into the deaths of Margaret Gould and Peter Cowie will be held this (Friday) afternoon."
