Frederic Alvah Gould 29 Jan 1852 in Woolwich, Lincoln (now Sagadahoc), Maine.. He is the son of Rodney Gould and Statira Ward. He married Alice Miller (daughter of Albert E. Miller and Anne E. (Hale) Miller) 12 May 1880 in Hancock, Co, Ohio.[1] He passed away 26 Jan 1938 in Scarsdale, Westchester, New York.. [2]

Bio: Ex-Mansfield Minister DiesRev. Frederick A. Gould, 85, former pastor of the First M. E. Church here and one of the founders of the Anti-Saloon league in Ohio, died at the home of his son, Kenneth, in Scarsdale, NY early today.Rev. Gould served the Mansfield church for seven years, leaving here over 30 years ago. He retired in 1920 after 44 years in the ministry.A descendant of Nathaniel Hawthorne and John Greenleaf Whittier, Rev. Gould was born in Woolwich, Maine, January 29, 1952, and lived in Minnesota before coming to Ohio. He was a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan in 1878, and was one of the school's oldest living alumnus.Rev. Gould received his A. M. degree at Ohio Wesleyan and his D. D. at Baldwin-Wallace college, of which he later served as president of the board of trustees.Ordained in 1878, Rev. Gould held pastorates at Hayesville, Gambier, Oberlin, Elyria and Cleveland before coming to Mansfield. He later served parishes in New York, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania.Rev. Gould moved to New York City after his retirement to serve as acting minister of the Central and Summerfield Methodist churches of Brooklyn and associate editor of publication for the Methodist Home Missions board. He was widely known as a temperance lecturer.Surviving are his son, managing editor of the Scholastic Magazine, New York; a daughter, Miriam C. Gould, associate professor of psychology at Vassar college; two brothers, two sisters and three grandchildren. His wife preceded him in death in 1924.
The body will be brought to Mansfield for services to be conducted by Rev. E. C. Corwin, present pastor of the First M. E. Church, at the Finefrock Funeral Home at 3 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Mansfield Cemetery.
