Biography

Maria was born in 1840, the daughter of John and Sarah (Haynes) Goulson of Bottesford, Leicestershire. The parents moved to Knipton, Leicestershire where they had twins, a boy, john, b. 1844 and Maria, b.1844. named after her deceased sister. Prior to the 1850 U.S. census, the family immigrated to the United States. 1850: the family is living in Wisconsin with the Mansell family. 1860: the Goulsons are still in Wisconsin but not with the Mansells. 1870: Maria has married Elias Shaw some time after 1860 and is living in San Mateo, California. 1880: residence is San Mateo, California. 1894: Maria loses her husband and is now a widow. 1900: widowed in San Mateo. 1910: widowed in San Mateo. Mario (Goulson) Shaw died in 1919 in San Mateo, California, Unted States.
