Biography
John Gower was born circa 1847, the son of Thomas and Rachel (Messenger) Gower[1], of Bridgetown, Annapolis county, Nova Scotia[2]
Note Thomas Gower died May 4, 1888[3]. His children and Rachel's included John, James[4], and Thomas[5]
On January 2, 1876, he married Mary Purdy Sullivan,[6] the daughter of Joseph Sullivan and Elizabeth Trefry of Digby, Nova Scotia[7][2], and they had children in Westport, Digby County[8], including:
Bessie Gower, born circa 1886, who married George William Clements in 1913[11]
Harvey Gower, born circa 1890, who died in 1930[12]
Norman Gower, born circa 1894, who died in 1922[13]
M??sia E Gower, born circa 1899 (no further information found)
John Gower died December 23, 1912[14], and is buried in Woodside Cemetery in Westport, Digby, Nova Scotia.
