Robert Gowing was born in Topcroft, Norfolk, England.

Robert was baptised at Topcroft on 25 October 1818. He was the son of Robert Gowing and Hannah Button.^[1]

He married Anna Garrod in 1840 (by license).^[2]

Robert died 10 February 1891 and buried at Wingfield, Suffolk.^[3]
