Melvin Grady was born in 1866^[1][2][3] in Michigan^[1][2]. He was the child^[1][2] of Granville Grady, the husband^[2] of Rachel Hall, and the son-in-law of Civil War veteran William Hall of the famous 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry.
