Susie was born in 1883. She was the daughter of Charlie Graetz and Pauline Eisen.
Susanna and Fred Semler were married at Mangoplah on January 30, 1908. They went to Mundawadra Station Henty, where Fred had to clear all timber from the area before he could start sharefarming. Wheat was the only crop. Susie cooked with a camp oven in the early days. In 1937 they bought a small section of Mundawadra Station where they lived until 1944. It was then worked for many years by their son, Harold. When they retired to live at The Rock, their extensive vegetable and flower garden gave them interest and enjoyment.
Their marriage was blessed with six children - three daughters and three sons, the youngest of whom lived only a few days. Fred died in 1961.
Susie's main interests have been her family (there are seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren), church, garden and crocheting. She exhibited her crochet work at the Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Adelaide Royal Shows, as well as numerous country shows, winning many prizes and championships. Among the latter were a silver tea service and silver tray for supper cloths shown at Sydney Royal Shows. Now aged 96, she still enjoys crocheting.[1]
She passed away in 1980.
