Fred wrote an autobiography 1 Nov 1918 at age 59. He included: living in Cedarburg in Aug 1885, drawing plans for a home to be built in Grafton for Mr. John Larson, owner of Grafton Flour Mills when he met Cora Rettberg. They were married in Mar. 1886. Fred and Cora had 4 children: Etta, Frederick, Cora, and J. Herbert. Fred Graf as an architect designed and supervised many Ozaukee and Milwaukee County homes and buildings. In 1899 his design for the Ozaukee County Courthouse was chosen and following the cornerstone laying in 1901, he supervised its construction. His autobiography also includes local history of the areas in which he and his parents lived, details of his early life and schooling, his father’s business ventures, and the occupations and training leading to his own profession as an architect, and the highlights of his designing career. Family notes list a Fred Graf, an architect, b. 1959, marrying a Cora Rettberg, was a son of john Jacob Graf and Margaretha Schmidt.[2] Fred's name and those of the co. supervisors was inscribed on the cornerstone of the Ozaukee County Courthouse, laid in 1901. Is Grafton Flour Mills owner the John Lawson who married Margaret Graf, the daughter of John Christian Graf (Fred’s half-brother)?
