Biography
Sarah Marie Graham was born on Saturday, February 15, 1840, in Allegheny City, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. She was the oldest of eight children in the family of Harrison Graham (Thursday, December 17, 1818 - Friday, September 22, 1854) and Elizabeth Thornley Graham (Monday, January 12, 1818 - Thursday, September 23, 1897). She married Charles Louis Netting (Sunday, February 23, 1834 - Thursday, February 7, 1907) at the age of seventeen on Thursday, September 3, 1857, in Allegheny City, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
They had ten children: Elizabeth Graham Brooks (Friday, October 29, 1858 -Monday, December 20, 1937); Charles Louis, Jr. (Thursday, September 12, 1861 - Tuesday, November 13, 1934); William Harrison (Thursday, November 5, 1863 - Sunday, April 21, 1935); Ella Thornley Hoagland (Tuesday, February 6,1866 - Wednesday, April 30, 1947); Morris Graham (Tuesday, February 2, 1869 - Tuesday, March 20, 1945); Henry S. (Tuesday, November 14, 1871 - Tuesday, July 14, 1953 ); Frank Hailemann. (Friday, September 11, 1874 - Wednesday, August 10, 1932); Mary Graham Potts (Wednesday, March 1, 1876 - Friday, October 26, 1956); Sarah Marie Boggs (Monday, February 3, 1879 - Wednesday, July 20, 1910 ); and Robert Graham (Friday, January 5, 1883 - Sunday, January 31, 1954).
Sarah lived nine years following her husband's tragic death after he fell from a stepladder just eight months short of their fiftieth wedding anniversary in 1907. After being in ill health for over a year Sarah passed away at the age of sixty-six on Tuesday, July 4, 1916, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ella T. Hoagland, in East McKeesport, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. She was a member of First Christian Church for over fifty years. Sarah is interred with her husband Charles at Union Dale Cemetery, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
