Biography

John R. Graham, one of Warren county's oldest and most respected citizens died 1 November 1903 at his home in Hale township in his 87th year. he was born in Greene county, Ohio in 1817 and in 1835 when he was just a young man he came to Hale township which had since been his home. On 24 March 1842, he married Miss Mary T. Rogers and they were the parents of eleven children .

In 1850 Mr. Graham made an extended trip to California and Oregon at the time of the gold craze and remained there for one year. He was the owner of 840 acres of fine land in Hale township . He was a democrat politically and was supervisor of Hale township in 1855.

The Monmouth Review of 4 November has his funeral notice.

The funeral services for John Ryan Graham were held the day before at his late residence in Hale township. His funeral was conducted by Reverend Samuel Brown of the Sugar Tree Grove church and music was furnished by the choir. The pallbearers were six grandsons of the deceased. Interment was in the Sugar Tree Grove cemetery.
