A Patrick Graham is listed in the 1840 Census for Greene County, Tennessee with one male under age 5, 2 males aged 20-30, one female under age 5 and two females aged 20-30. A Joseph Shields is on the same page with one male aged 5-10, one male aged 15-20, one male aged 50-60, two females aged 10-15, one female aged 20-30 and one female aged 50-60.[1]
This Patrick Graham of the 1850 Census for Bradley County, Tennessee is definitely the one. Note the birthplace is given as Virginia. "Ellender" is not his wife's last name at birth but a given name.
Patrick was dead before 1880, as in the 1880 Census Mary Graham is listed as a widow.

Patrick and Mary were said to have lived in or near Charleston, Bradley County, TN after moving there from KY. They supposedly came to AR from TN on a steamboat, landing at Woodruff's Landing close to Moore's Rock school house.
