Belgian engineer. Invented a DC dynamo generating higher voltages than known previously. 1873 discovered device was reversible - a DC motor! Gramme machine reportably the first usefully powerful electrical motor. High school in Liege 'L'Institut Gramme' named after him. Featured on Belgium Stamp & in 2005 ended in 23rd place in election of the greatest Belgian TV show.
