James (Grant) Grant IIIrd of Freuchie is a member of Clan Grant.
James was the son of John Grant, 2nd of Freuchie and Margaret Ogilvy.[1] He also went by the nick-name of James 'Sheumas nan Creach' Grant (or in English, James of the Forays).[2]
He married, firstly, Elizabeth Forbes, daughter of John Forbes, 6th Lord Forbes and Lady Catherine Stewart.[3] They had issue:

As a resident of Fife and descendant of James Grant 3rd Laird of Freuchie, I don't believe he was born in the village of Freuchie, Fifeshire.
This document [ https://www.baronage.co.uk/bphtm-03/grant-03.html ] makes it clear that the seat of the Grant clan was in the Morayshire area in the North East of Scotland, and it was the Freuchie hillock on which Castle Grant was built which was his place of birth. "Freuchie" is derived from the Gaelic for heather - there are probably a lot of other places with this name in Scotland!
I note that the places of birth and death have now been moved to the right county (Morayshire), but that "Castle Grant" has been entered. This name didn't replace "Freuchie Castle" until 1694 according to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Castle_Grant#cite_note-Coventry-1.

Grant-15699 and Grant-830 appear to represent the same person because: hi Arik. Let me know if you have any questions. I'm finally working on the Clan Grant wiki pages and am looking to clear things up and merge profiles where necessary.
