As a resident of Fife and descendant of James Grant 3rd Laird of Freuchie, I don't believe he was born in the village of Freuchie, Fifeshire.

This document [ https://www.baronage.co.uk/bphtm-03/grant-03.html ] makes it clear that the seat of the Grant clan was in the Morayshire area in the North East of Scotland, and it was the Freuchie hillock on which Castle Grant was built which was his place of birth. "Freuchie" is derived from the Gaelic for heather - there are probably a lot of other places with this name in Scotland!

Fifeshire would be incorrect, you are right on with that. I never noticed somebody had put that in there. It's fixed now.

I note that the places of birth and death have now been moved to the right county (Morayshire), but that "Castle Grant" has been entered. This name didn't replace "Freuchie Castle" until 1694 according to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Castle_Grant#cite_note-Coventry-1.

baronage.co.uk (to which I referred above) is no longer accessible.

Hi, Would you add Grant-15709 as a son of Grant-830 with his mother Barclay-2776? I am not certified for this. Thank you, Bret

Grant-15699 and Grant-830 appear to represent the same person because: hi Arik. Let me know if you have any questions. I'm finally working on the Clan Grant wiki pages and am looking to clear things up and merge profiles where necessary.
