Biography

This Oliver Grant, born in 1779 @ Stonington, Connecticut, was the first child of Hannah Fanning & Oliver Grant.

He married 1801, at Groton, Connecticut, Esther Breed. They resided in N. Stonington, where they had 4 children:

  1. Mary Esther Grant (1802-1842)
  2. Oliver Burrows Grant (1804-1891)
  3. Ann Miner (Grant) Safford (1807-1875); married Orrin Safford
  4. Lucy Breed (Grant) Spalding (1810-1888); married Daniel Brown Spalding

Oliver Grant was a farmer & grand juror.

Oliver Grant died 23 May 1813 at North Stonington, Connecticut. His grave is in Evergreen Cemetery, Stonington, New London County, Connecticut, USA [1].

Notes

The date of their marriage is uncertain; the Grant and Breed genealogies published that it was in 1801. An online database contains a transcribed marriage notice from the New London Bee that was issued June 9, 1802 [2], which is not entirely definitive because the notice would have been published at an undeterminable interval after the event.
