Biography

Samuel Grant, born 30 Jun 1726 at East Windsor, Connecticut, was the second child of Thomas Grant and Elizabeth Rockwell.

Samuel Rockwell Grant b. E. Windsor, June 30, 1726; d. Wapping, Connecticut, Apr. 17, 1796; m. Mabel (called Mehetabel in E. Windsor church record) Loomis, of East Windsor [d. Windsor, July 26, 1805; she was the dau. of Moses Loomis and Elizabeth Bidwell]. They resided at Windsor, Connecticut, where they were innkeepers. They owned a covenant in the church at East Windsor. The 2d Congregational Society of S. Windsor first met in his barn. Samuel Grant was a surveyor; also a lister.[1]

According to Family trees on Ancestry and Rootsweb, Samuel Rockwell Grant and Mehetabel Loomis had two daughters named Tryphena Grant:

1) Tryphena Grant born in 1761 and died on Jan 10, 1764. :2) Tryphena Grant born 1768 and died on Jan 10, 1814; married Jabez Morgan.

Samuel Rockwell Grant died 17 Apr 1796 at Wapping, Connecticut.
