Loring Grant was a celebrated pioneer minister and presiding elder of the Methodist Episcopal church. By his labor and influence, Genesee Wesleyan Seminary was established. Albion College also owes its existence to his zeal and unwearied labors. Loring Grant drew the plans, raised the funds, and superintended the erections of scores of churches. Several times he was a delegate to the General Conference of the M.E. church. He also served as chairman of the publishing committee of the Auburn Banner in 1837.
Loring Grant died 13 Sep 1870 at Pentwater, near Niles, Michigan.
