Biography

Loring Grant, born 25 Feb 1789 in Queens, New York, was the third child of Hannah Tracy & Isaac Grant.

He married 4 Aug 1811 at Braintrim, Pennsylvania, Betsey Keeney [b. 6 Apr 1796 @ Braintrim, daughter of Joshua Keeney & Phebe Sturdevant]; d. 10 Jan 1867]. This family was evidently quite mobile, with their 12 children born across 8 locations in New York State:

Loring Grant was a celebrated pioneer minister and presiding elder of the Methodist Episcopal church. By his labor and influence, Genesee Wesleyan Seminary was established. Albion College also owes its existence to his zeal and unwearied labors. Loring Grant drew the plans, raised the funds, and superintended the erections of scores of churches. Several times he was a delegate to the General Conference of the M.E. church. He also served as chairman of the publishing committee of the Auburn Banner in 1837.

Loring Grant died 13 Sep 1870 at Pentwater, near Niles, Michigan.

Grant-8114 and Grant-7353 appear to represent the same person because: Apparently his profile was duplicated at input for his children. This is the father of all children listed in Grant-7353, and the spouse of Betsey Keeney.
