Thelmer (22) married Eula Bell Black (19) (born on 29 March 1907 in Texas, United States) on 30 January 1927 in Maud, Pottawatomie, Oklahoma, United States.[3] Their children were:
Thelmer married Ida Lou Frederick (born on 22 August 1906 in Maud City, Pottawatomie, Oklahoma, United States; daughter of Samuel W. Fredrick and Sidney Cordel (Aday) Fredrick). Their son was Wyman Louis Graves (4 July 1937 – 21 August 1986).
Thelmer died on 19 August 1937 in Stanislaus, California, United States, aged 32.[4] He was buried in Modesto Citizens Cemetery, Modesto, Stanislaus County, California, USA (plot: Ave 6 GR 34).[5]
