Mary 'Polly' Graves (Polly is a nickname for Mary) was born in 1775 in Chatham, North Carolina, British Colonial America.^[1] She was the daughter of Thomas Graves (1734 - 1807) and his wife Martha (Dixon) Graves (1753 - 1810).

Her siblings were:

1. Jonathon Graves (about 1771 – about 1850)
2. Ann Graves (about 1773 – about 1860)
3. Samuel Graves (4 May 1777 – 11 September 1850)
4. Thomas Graves (about 1782 – 6 April 1836)
5. John Jack Graves (6 March 1789 – 10 September 1844)
6. Polly Graves (about 1790 – 1860)

Supposedly, she moved to Tennessee when her brother Thomas moved there. However, there are no sources for this.

Polly married Elijah Emerson (1772-deceased) 1810 in Vinton, Ohio, USA. Her Husband changed his last name after marrying Mary Graves (a Quaker) and moving to Ohio.

Their daughter was Ellenor Ann (Graves) Clark (1822 - 1883).

In the 1850 census Polly (age about 75) was living in Richland, Vinton, Ohio.^[2]

She died in 1850 in Richland, Vinton, Ohio, USA aged ~75.
