Margaret Graves was born on July 18, 1719 in Dedham, Suffolk County, Massachusetts Bay. She was the daughter of Thomas & Sybil (Avery) Graves.[1]
Margaret's father was a Physican turned Judge. Sybil died of smallpox in 1721 and Margaret worked in her father's apothecary shop until she was old enough to marry. Her husband was a Capt. in the merchant class which made up only 10% of the port's population, and was away from home most of the time.
