William was born the 1st of May 1747 in Tiverton, Rhode Island.[1][2] He was the son of William Gray and Elizabeth Dennis.[3][4] William married Peace (Cook) Gray in 1774 in Tiverton.[5] William took up arms, in defense of the colonies, in 1778. He fought as a Private in Captain Joseph Sanford's Company, in Colonel John Cook's Rhode Island Regiment of Militia.[6]
William's wife Peace died in the fall of 1791.[7] He remarried to Priscilla Manchester on the 12th of September in 1793, in Tiverton.[8]
William died on the 14th of February in 1813. He was laid to rest in the William Gray Lot in Tiverton.[9]
William fought as a Private in Captain Joseph Sanford's Company, in Colonel John Cook's Rhode Island Regiment of Militia during the Revolutionary War.[10]
