Obit from the Pike County Democrat, Friday, January 20, 1905;
"John H Gray died at his home one mile south of Algiers, on Friday morning at half-past six o'clock of consumption. He was born in Boyle County, Kentucky, August 8, 1848 and came with his father and three sisters to Indiana and settle near Orleans, Orange County. In August 1866, he was united in marriage to Julia Ann Selby, who, with ten children survive him. In July, 1867 he joined the Christian church and remained a true christian until his death. He leaves two sisters, Mrs John M Colbert of Washington, and Mrs James H Dorsey, of near Cato. The funeral services were held at Pleasant Ridge church on Saturday afternoon, by Rev W E Willis, and internment in the cemetery near the church."
