1840 U.S. Census: John Gray lived in District 489, Henry County, Georgia, with one male age 20-30 (John, 24), two females under age 5 (Margaret E., 3, and Harriet Jane, 1), one female 20-30 (Isabella, 22). No slaves, total household was four persons; two persons worked in agriculture; neither could read or write.[5]
1850 U.S. Census: John Gray, age 34, lived in Henry, Henry County, Georgia, with wife Isabella, 32, and children M.E., 13, H.J., 11, M.A., 9, N.C. (Nancy Caroline), 7, H.S., 3, and R.F., 2 months. John was a farmer and owned real estate valued at $1000. He was born in Georgia, and could not read or write. Isabella was born in South Carolina. All children born in Georgia.[6]
1850 John Gray died, age 34, on September 18, 1850, in Henry County, Georgia, and was buried in Old Philadelphia Methodist Church Cemetery in McDonough, Henry County, Georgia. Find A Grave: Memorial #142184862[7]
