Thomas Gray was the eleventh and youngest child of George Gray Sr (1768–1844) and his wife, Mary Ligertwood (1776–1857). He was born on 3 January 1821, probably at his parents' home, Knapsleask,[1] in the Aberdeenshire parish of Slains.[2] The emtry made in the parish register was:
"January 17th — 1821 / George Gray in Knaps Leask, had a Son by his wife Mary Ligertwood, born on January, 3d [sic] & baptized by the name of Thomas — Witnesses, George Sangster & James Valentine".
His date of death and marital status has not been established.
