Biography

US Black Heritage Project
Hattie (Gray) Johnson is a part of US Black heritage.

Hattie was born about 1856, the daughter of Charles and Anne Gray. In 1880, their family lived in Loudoun, Virginia.[1]

She married Edward H. Johnson.

In 1910, she was widowed and her household in Somerset, Pennsylvania was made up of: Hattie (55), her daughter, Mayme (25) and her father, Charles W Gray (89).[2]

In 1920, Hattie (63) was living with her son-inlaw, Guy (34), daughter, Mayme (34) and their daughter, Harriet (4) in Somerset, Pennsylvania where Guy worked as a railroad "hostler".[3][4]

She passed away about 1925. She was buried in Union Cemetery in Somerset, Somerset County, Pennsylvania.

Name is spelled Gray or Grey but Gray seems the most common one reported.
