At the time of the 1871 Census, Avon, aged 11, was at home with his mother, a widow, and two older siblings. They were living at Moseley Road, Aston, Birmingham.[3]
Late 1884 or early 1885, Avon married Emily Louisa Allen within the district of Kings Norton.[4] They had five children, one of whom died young.[2]
By 1891, they lived at 8, Featherstone Road, Kings Norton, Kings Heath and Avon was working as a "Commission Agent".[5] In 1901, they were still at at Featherstone Road. Avon was working as a Wood Turner and Timber Dealer.[6] By 1911 Avon had retired. Their four children were still all single and at home with Avon and Emily at 205 Alcester Road, Kings Heath.[2]
Andy Worrall had cited the 1881 Census, noting, "Profession: Manufacturer Employing 5 Men & 2 Boys; lived at: Laburnam Cottage, Taylor Rd, Kings Norton (with mother - shown as Widow)". As yet, I have been unable to locate this record, searching FamilySearch and findmypast. Chris Orme, 3 Dec 2019
