William Ely Green was born in1797 in Hanover, Morris County, New Jersey, United States, the son of Benjamin Green and Sarah (Ely) Green.[1]
William married Mary Stiles, daughter of Ephraim Price and Anna Williams Stiles, on October 18, 1823 in Bloomfield, Essex County, New Jersey, United States. [2] They had at least the following children: [3][4]

William Green was involved in the cotton manufacturing business all of his life. When he first came to GA, he started the High Shoals Cotton Mills with Ephraim Stiles Hopping.[5][6]
William died on April 14, 1867 in Fulton County, Georgia, United States. He was buried in Oakland Cemetery in Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia. [7]
