John Marion Green was born 20 May 1836 in Perry County, Alabama, USA, son of Jesse Brooks Green 1815–1894 and Sarah Ann Blanks Reed 1819–1881.

John Marion Green married Elizabeth Walker Babb, daughter of William Babb and Elizabeth Bradley on March 5, 1857 in Blanco, Texas.

John died of typhoid fever and is listed on the 1860 Blanco Co, Texas mortality list. ^{[1] [2]}

John's widow remarried to Christopher Columbus Sellers on November 1, 1860 in Coryell Co, Texas and his children are listed with their mother on the 1870 Hamilton Co, Texas census.
