Sidney, born in 1880 in Otford, Kent, [1] was a Sergeant in the Queens Regiment in WW1, and a Special Police Constable during World War 2. Wounds in WW1 resulted in the loss of an eye. In 1939 he was working for Elliots the grocers, Eastbourne, Sussex's biggest grocer at the time. He died in 1967 [2]after a fall down steel plate stairs at the rear of Macs Fisheries shop in Bexleyheath, where he was living. His ashes were scattered on flowerbed 6 at the Eltham, Sussex, crematorium. [3]
