Golda Green was born on Nov. 20, 1913, in Mountain View to Calvin and Laura Green. She was the daughter of Calvin Green and Laura Lenover.
She and her first husband owned and operated grocery and dry-goods stores in Ash Grove, Springfield, Fordland and Diggins, where they made many friends. One of her passions was remodeling older homes into rental homes. She loved oil painting, quilting, and her flowers. The last two years of her life she lived at Maranatha Manor.
She died on September 30, 2009 in White Chapel, Springfield, Missouri. Preceding her in death were her two husbands, brothers and sisters and one great-grandchild. Survivors include her daughters, Loretta Shaffer and Charlotte Combs; a sister, Hazel Chapman; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. She was buried at the White Chapel Memorial Garden in Springfield.[1]
