Biography

Ettie (Green) Goolagong is an Indigenous Australian.

Ettie May Goolagong died on 4 May 1947 aged 95 for an estimated birth year of 1852^[1]. However, this implies that she would have been 59 years old when she gave birth to Anthony in 1911, so either the age of 95 is incorrect or something else is?! According to an Ancestry Family Tree^[2], her last son was born about 1920 and her own birth year was about 1875. I suggest that if the 95 age was 75, Ettie would have been born in 1872. Again, according to ref.1, of Ettie's last 3 children after Anthony, 2 did not reach the age of 1 year and the last, Thomas F Goolagong only survived for about 4 years, and the one before Anthony, also less than 1 year, which may be suggestive that she was passed the usual age for having children successfully.

She married Robert Goolagong with the name Mary Green on the Ancestry transcription of the marriage certificate in 1896, with the marriage registered in Forbes, New South Wales, Australia.

Ettie May Goolagong was on the Electoral Rolls at Mission Reserve, Condobolin, New South Wales with Robert in 1931, 1932 and 1936, and for the last time in 1943, but without Robert in 1943 as he had died in 1939.

Ettie May Goolagong died in 1947 and was buried in an unmarked grave in area RC of the Condobolin General Cemetery at Condobolin.
