George was Ho-Chunk.

George was born in 1911. He is the son of Luke Green and his first wife Anna Smoke, whose Hocąk name was Ną́jijewįga, "She Who Alights on a Tree". (1912 census)

His Hocąk name was given as CooNooKah, which is a birth order name for Kųnųga, the First Son. The middle name "Koshiway" was found in the obit of Lester Green, the son of Lula Mae Russell and an otherwise unidentified George Koshiway Green. The latter died young, and Lula married what appears to have been this George, the brother of Milford Jacob S. Green.

Military Service

George Green [was] a private serving with the Service Company, 128th Infantry, W. N. G at Camp Livingston, La. (Obit)
