John was born in about 1811 in Corbridge, Northumberland, England^[1], the son of John Green and Jane Stobart. He was baptised on 28 July 1811 in All Saints, Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland, England.^[2][3][4]

John married Hannah Taylor on 8 October 1832 in Hexham, Northumberland, England.^[5]
