This John (Duff's son) died unmarried but had survived the war.
His cousin, Lt. John Green, also died unmarried, but was killed in a duel at Valley Forge in April 1778 at age 18.[2] He had joined the 6th Virginia as a substitute for his new brother-in-law, Thomas McClanahan, the same month.[3]
Duff's brother, Colonel John Green, served with several regiments, including the 10th Virginia: "Lieutenant Green’s father was Col. John Green of the Tenth Virginia...[4][5]
