Biography

Col. Lewis Green (1791-1875) born in Sumner County, North Carolina to Zachariah GREEN ( and Sarah MCKAIN GREEN. Col Lewis Green's father was born 11 Jan 1760 in Virginia; died 12 Sep 1840 in Sumner Co., Tennessee.

Zachariah's father, Col Lewis Green's grandfather was Lewis Green, Sr. born Abt. 1724 in Prince George Co., Virginia, and died October 1784 in Blue Spring Road., Sumner Co., Tennessee. He married Elizabeth Lauderdale Bef. 1750, daughter of James Lauderdale and Jean Sutherland Gordan. She was born Abt. 1730 in Augusta Co., Virginia, and died Abt. 1805 in Davidson Co., Tennessee.[1]

Col Lewis Green was a ruling elder, first in the Lexington Church, and subsequently in the Prairie Church, Lafayette County, Missouri. He was born in Tennessee in 1791; went to Missouri in 1836, and died 1875. Trained to the life of a soldier he exhibited the vigor and courage of a soldier in the Christian warfare.

Col Lewis Green passed away April 14, 1875 in LaFayette, Missouri and was buried at Machpelah Cemetery, Lexington, Lafayette County, Missouri, USA Plot: Block C Lot 49
