Elias married Rebecca Rollins on July 31, 1845 in Cleveland, North Carolina[2][3][4] They had at least one chld, Melinda R. (Green) Moore. Census data suggests they may have had seven children. The 1860 Census list the following as members of his household:

Elias was a Private in the 34th Regiment, North Carolina Infantry under Colonel Leventhorpe. Elias' father, James, and many of his brothers also fought in the war.[6] Most of the Greens in this area enlisted in the 55th Regiment, Co.D "Cleveland Farmers", although James and Elias did not. They also did not enlist for the same regiment.[7]

We don't have information about Elias' vocation after the war. However, he lived in the same area of many of his family members who were subsistence farmers.

Elias died March 22, 1921 in Boiling Springs, North Carolina. He is buried at Sandy Run Baptist Church Cemetery, Mooresboro, Cleveland County. North Carolina.[8]
