Vernard W Greenaway was born in Alberta Province, Canada on December 10, 1912.[1] When he was 4 or 5 years old, his parents gave up the farm on which they homesteaded and moved back to the state of Washington. The 1920 census shows them living on a farm near Duley Lake, Washington.[2] The following year, when Vernard was 8, his father died.
The fact that he can't be found in the 1930 or 1940 census suggests a somewhat unsettled lifestyle. His WWII Army Enlistment record shows his occupation in the category "Unskilled lumbermen, raftsmen, and woodchoppers."[3] At that time, in 1941, he is unmarried and was living in Curry County, Oregon.[3]
Vernard served in the army in WW II.[1]
Vernard died at age 36, in Portland, Oregon, on April 22, 1949.[1,4]
