Biography

Isabella (Greenaway) Laird was born in Scotland.

Isabella Greenaway was born in the parish of Falkirk about 1845 and was the fifth daughter of Alexander Greenaway and Agnes McLay.

On the 1851 census, Isabella is living in the Bainsford area of Falkirk with her parents and siblings. Her father is an iron dresser.^[1] On the 1861 census, Isabella is living at 7 Bank St, Falkirk, with George and Margaret Robertson. She is working as a domestic servant.^[2]

Isabella married Martin Laird in the parish of Falkirk on 16 June 1863 and they had twelve children.^[3]

Martin is working as a potter.^[4] On the 1881 census, Martin and Isabella are living at 2 Cullens Buildings, Falkirk, with their children. Their daughter, Agnes, bon in 1871, died in infancy.^[5]

On the 1891 census, Martin and Isabella are living at 29 Rowchester St, Camlachie, Glasgow, with their children. Martin is working as a potter.^[6] On the 1901 census, Martin and Isabella are living at 11 Skinnergate, Perth, with their children and grandchildren. Their son, Charles, and his wife, Maggie, are living with them. Martin is a brick work labourer, while Charles is a general labourer.^[7]

Isabella Greenaway died, aged 67 years, on 7 May 1912.^[8]
