One of our mentors created a tutorial for the GEDCOMpare process that others found very helpful. I hope that you will too.

I have tell you, Wendy, that I'm considering leaving WikiTree. Not allowing me to add my grandchildren (under 13) to the tree is the breaking point. I'm not about to give my tree over to trusted individuals in order to expand the tree. It's my tree. I've been working on it, in various forms & programs, since the late 80's/early 90's. I should be able to add &/or delete anyone. If I had known this when I first added my tree to WikiTree, I probably would have not joined. FWIW.
I understand you are disappointed, but when WikiTree implemented the GDPR regulations, it took the decision that under 13s would require their parent to be on WikiTree and consent to this data being added. Failure to do so could have left them open to substantial fines. While GDPR is European legislation, access to WikiTree is from all over the world and it is necessary to apply the rules regardless of which country the member or the individual is in. See https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:GDPR_FAQ
We are so glad to have you in the WikiTree community and hope that it becomes a vital part of your family history journey. New/improved features and tools are always being added to improve the experience. If something comes up that sparks a question or causes any confusion please do not hesitate to ask. Our Help pages are a great resource, too, or post questions, comments or suggestions on the WikiTree Facebook page or WikiTree on Twitter. Also feel free to e-mail me directly (and privately) at crystal at wikitree.com.

Because we are a one world tree, all profiles are shared and no one owns their own tree, since individuals are likely to be related to many different individuals. See https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Ownership_and_Control
I am sorry if you decide WikiTree is not for you.
Wendy
