His Hocąk name is given as Cha Wak Ja Xi Gah (Hocak Worak), which is for Cawakjaxiga, "Tan Buck", from cāwą́k, buck (< cā, "deer"; and wąk, "male"); -ja, an auxiliary expressing the standing position; xi, "yellow, the color of plums going into brown, of somebody’s eyes"; and -ga, a definite article suffix used in personal names. This is a Deer Clan name.
