Hugh Greene was born in Ireland.

Hugh was born in 1845. He was the son of John Greene and Emma Hobson.

UK Census Date 1851: Recorded in Croft Terrace, Saint Mary Tenby In Liberty, Pembrokeshire, Wales with his parents and two siblings Richard and Emma. Aged about 5 and a scholar at home. Also in the household was a governess and four servants.

His mother died in 1863.

On 8 July 1865 he was probably issued his Certificate of Competency as a Second Mate in the Merchant Service.

His father died in 1870.

He passed away in 1871 at the young age of 26, unmarried[1].

His will was proved on 25 September 1871 at the Principal Registry to Richard Massy Greene (his brother) of Dunmore East, Esquire[2]. Effects under £3,000
