Funeral services for Milton E. Greene, 65, who died Tuesday evening at the King's Daughters' Hospital after a brief illness were were conducted at his home, 970 Kinzley Court, Staunton, Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock by Rev. Gaston Boyle, pastor, of Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church, Steele's Tavern. The burial followed in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
Mr. Greene, the son of the late Nimrod and Amanda Wheatley Greene, was born October 27, 1876 in Augusta County near Greenville. He lived most of his life at various places in this county where he was a land owner, real estate dealer and contractor.
Mr. Greene's first wife, Mrs. Janie Trimble Green, preceded him in death, passing away, April 26, 1922.
Surviving are his second wife, Mrs. Ada Craig Green, and the following children: Frances Greene, at home; Mrs. Phillip A. Groll, Oglesby, Ill., Miss Mary Greene, Waynesboro, Pvt. N. T. Greene, in overseas service, Lieutenant J. M. Greene, Camp Blanding, Fla., and Mrs. Dwight F. Hollingsworth; one sister, Mrs. J. R. Fravel, Spottswood; the following grandchildren, Mary Virginia, Phyllis Ann, And Betty Jane Groll; Dan and N. T. Greene Jr.; Mary Jane and Becky Jo Greene; and Julie Ann Hollingsworth; and these stepchildren, J. L. Craig, Waynesboro; Sergant Fred P. Craig, Dover Air Base, Dover, Del; and Hazel Craig, Middlebrook Star Route. A son born of the second marriage, Milton E. Greene Jr., died at the age of nine.
