Anna Jane Greene was born the youngest of 5 known children to Enoch and Malvina Green on a farm in Indiana, probably Salem, Washington County. Some time in the 1870s the family moved to Illinois. In 1884 she married John Wilbur Haines with whom she had three children. They lived in Urbana, Champaign County, Illinois. At some point before 1900 they moved to Gibson city, Ford, Illinois. Later they moved to Chicago. In 1930 she and John were retired and living with their sons in Seattle, Washington. Shortly after that they returned to Gibson City where they are both buried.

John W. and Anna Haynes are now established in Drummer Township Gibson city Ward 1-3, Ford, Illinois, United States. John is listed as a machinist. Family legend has it that he helped bring the railroad to Gibson City and was one of the early fathers of the city. According to the microfilm the Haines family owned their home with a mortgage. Anna's parents were living next door. Anna's birth date is shown as June 1864. She bore three children all of whom survived.

There was an Anna Haynes in the Peoria State Hospital. The only supporting data in the census is her age. If this is Anna Jane Green that could explain why her husband John Haines was a roomer in nearby Chicago. [9]
